Accessibility Statement

We want everyone to be able to read here, and we work to make the site accessible and easy to use for people with disabilities.

Accessibility level

The site aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 at level AA.

What we've done

  • Each page declares its language and direction, so screen readers read it in the right language and order.
  • You can use the whole site with a keyboard alone, and every focused element is clearly outlined.
  • A "Skip to main content" link at the top of every page jumps straight to the content.
  • Text and background colours meet the required contrast, in both light and dark mode.
  • A dark mode (the button in the top menu) reduces glare.
  • You can enlarge the text with your browser's zoom (Ctrl and +), or in the reading settings, without losing content.
  • Headings in order, breadcrumb navigation and text labels on buttons help screen-reader users.
  • The site works on computers, tablets and phones.

Known limits

  • Some parts of the site (the statistics service) are provided by third parties, and their accessibility is not fully in our control.
  • There is no phone line; accessibility requests are handled by email.

We keep testing and improving the site. If you find something that isn't accessible, please let us know.
